Do you love your Bible enough to go to prison for it?
Many of those in Communist Countries do. The people there KNOW the value of their Bible. Sadly, many, nearly 50%,living in the United States RARELY pick up their Bible.
Christians in Communist Countries for the most part, are in a much better spiritual state, because they KNOW the value of their Bible and they use it everyday. Many Christians in the US are in a sickly, even dying spiritual state, because they don't even know where their Bible is, let alone spend time reading it everyday.
If you feel like your spiritual battery is running low....or maybe even dead, the CURE is found in God's Word. If the King James Version is difficult for you to understand, buy a Modern Version, like the New Living Transition...and it will be like the LIGHT BULB got turned on! What was hard to understand will now come alive!
Al and I have made it a habit for many years, to read the Bible together in the morning. We've read it many times together....and no matter how many times we read it, we still find things that we don't ever remember reading...and reading it in other versions really sheds so much light...
The purpose for reading the Bible isn't for gaining lots of Biblical FACTS. It's good to know Biblical facts but the real reason is to hear God speaking to US, PERSONALLY. All these Bible stories are just that - STORIES - unless we apply them to our lives and learn the lessons from their mistakes, so we don't have to make the same mistakes.
The Bible is THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOK. It will teach you HOW to LIVE, how to THINK. It will teach you about God, how much He loves you. It will teach you about HEALTH, about FAMILY, how to raise your CHILDREN. The topics are ENDLESS that the Bible will shed light on and show you how you should THINK.
Don't fall for listening to the Bible through the eyes of others. Preachers often put their own TWIST on what the Bible is teaching...and make it teach something that was NEVER intended or sometimes COMPLETELY IGNORE the REAL POINT being taught.
Friends, this world is getting DARKER and DARKER. In order to make it through the very dark times coming...you are going to NEED to know your Bible. The Bible will help you to keep from succumbing to discouragement and temptation. NOTHING else will take the place of the Bible.
Don't wait until January 1st next year to make a new resolution. Determine TODAY that you will spend time in your Bible, EVERY DAY. And may God bless you as you strive to know Him better and to follow where He leads the way.
